Description of the Role

The Commercial Energy Advisor will lead the company’s commercial sales and supplier relations efforts, focusing on maximizing our portfolio. We are looking for candidates who turn prospects into customers and advocates by blending sales expertise with excellent service and support, all while building powerful relationships with our suppliers and partners.

  • Develop leads for potential customers for the company’s commercial service, including commercial auto-switching services, custom-priced brokered energy products, commercial solar leads and other efficiency products
  • Actively respond to and manage customer prospects from the company’s marketing channels and independent contractors
  • Cultivate long-term and positive relationships with prospects and clientele to provide maximum value from our portfolio of services
  • Actively monitor the market for competitive landscape, rates, regulatory and other changes that will affect the company and our customers
  • Analyze, monitor and optimize the company’s commercial portfolio to provide optimum value to customers
  • Proactively consult and work with energy suppliers and partners to be aware of and provide the best service opportunities to our customers
  • Work with the operations team on any customer support issues for commercial customers including commissions, enrollments, rejections, contract negotiations, renewals, etc., as needed
  • Work with the company’s management team to find and evaluate additional options for the company’s portfolio of products and services
  • Analyze the company’s book of customers to maximize value for the customer and the company
  • Negotiate pricing and other terms for individual customers and large blocks of customers with supplier partners
  • Expand the company’s supplier network and establish relationships with suppliers in all active markets
  • Manage supplier and product partner relationships and ensure communication flow, increased business potential and cross-selling opportunities
  • Work with company management and technical team to develop scalable processes and sales flow for rapid growth

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, economics, sales or related area
  • Solid understanding of retail energy markets with a minimum of 3 years professional experience in deregulated energy
  • At least 3 years experience in a direct or indirect sales role, working with commercial clientele
  • Ideal candidate will have an existing background in energy sales, including procuring, analyzing and pitching retail energy services
  • Experience working in solar helpful but not required
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in pricing and/or financial modeling
  • Customer relationship management skills and project management skills
  • Organized and efficient with the ability to manage short-term and long-term sales cycles
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Stellar attitude, interpersonal skills, and ability to instill confidence in others
  • Training skills and the ability to mentor others
  • Innovative thinker and self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment
